Launched on International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women in partnership with survivorsnetwork.org.uk.
This day marks the beginning of the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, that runs from 25th November until 10th December (Human Rights Day) every year.
In 1977 around 150 women from the Women's Liberation Movement marched in Leeds demanding to reclaim the night due to the increasing deadly violence and attacks on women in the area. The authorities were telling women to stay home at night and something needed to change.
Decades later Reclaim the Night is now a global movement. With woman all over the world marching to demand an end to violence against women.
Survivors Network supports survivors of sexual violence. Find out more about the help they provide here.
